Pear Apple Sauce
The pear apple sauce recipe is one of the pear recipes we make a lot.
Not only is it a healthy snack for babies and little kids, but adults love it, too!
It tastes great on pancakes, french toast, or served with chicken - or on a slice of whole grain toasted bread.
What you need:
- 3 McIntosh apples, peeled, cored and chopped
- 3 pears, peeled, cored and chopped
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup frozen apple juice puree, thawed
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
What you do:
- Put all of the ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to a simmer and cover, stirring occasionally.
- The mixture should be reduced to a chunky sauce after 10 minutes or so.
- Remove from heat. Cool. Refrigerate until needed.
- This sauce may also be frozen. Use ice cube trays if you would like to remove one portion at a time.
Makes 2 cups.
