Layered Fruit Salad




This is a pretty layered fruit salad that looks good and will draw compliments no matter where you take it!

Get your daily dose of vitamin C with this fresh fruit salad recipe.



What you need:

Sauce:

  • 2/3 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
  • 1/2 tsp. grated lemon peel
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

Fruit:

  • 2 cups cubed fresh pineapple
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced
  • 3 medium bananas, sliced
  • 2 oranges, peeled and sectioned
  • 1 cup seedless grapes
  • 1 pint blueberries

What you do:

In a sauce pan, bring all of the sauce ingredients to a boil, except for the vanilla.

Simmer for 5 minutes.

Add vanilla and allow sauce to cool.

In a large, clear glass salad bowl (if you own one), arrange fruit in layers in the order listed above.

Pour sauce over fruit.

Cover and refrigerate several hours.

Makes 10-12 servings.
