Quick! What do most brides register for and then never use? If you guessed a fondue set, you are correct!
Fondue is one of those things that looks elegant on the table, complicated to pull together; but is actually no work at all! There are honestly no hard recipes, you basically melt ingredients together and dip!
The perfect end to a great meal is a fruit fondue. If you prepare and refrigerate the fruit ahead of time, you'll pretty much be ready to go. You can just visit with your guests while you wait for the chocolate to melt!
Since chocolate is the only thing you can dip fruit into for a fondue; you will only find chocolate fondue recipes here (not that anyone is complaining, I'm sure!)
Some ideas to get the dipping started (besides fresh fruit!) include: Angel Food Cake, Pound Cake, Pretzels, and Marshmallows.
8 oz. of organic milk, dark mint, dark new moon, brasilia, dark conacado or latte
1/4 to 1/2 cup of organic whipping cream (add to desired consistency)
4 Tablespoons of organic orange juice
A variety of fruit -organic if you can get it- cut into bite size pieces
What you do:
Cut the chocolate into small pieces and place into the heated fondue pot.
Add the cream and orange juice slowly and stir continuously until chocolate is melted and ingredients are blended and hot.
Delicious and romantic!
Two Minute Chocolate Fondue
Yup, just two minutes! Maybe a bit longer, depending on your cookware...
What you need:
12 ounces good quality semi-sweet chocolate
2/3 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
3 tablespoons Grand Marnier or Amaretto liqueur (optional)
Bite sized pieces of fruit or cake
What you do:
Combine the chocolate and heavy cream in a medium heavy saucepan over medium-low heat. Stirring constantly, cook for about two minutes, or until melted and smooth. Add the vanilla and liqueur. Serve with the fruit and cake.
Chocolate Fondue -Smores Style
This popular recipe, often found around summer campfires, has been revamped into a delicious fondue.
What you need:
1 cup cream
8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
1 cup marshmallow cream
What you do:
Slowly warm the cream in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. When hot, add the chocolate pieces, stirring until melted. Stir in the marshmallow cream and warm the mixture. Transfer to a warm fondue pot.
Serve with graham crackers, marshmallows and of course, fresh fruit!.
Serves 6 or more
Mocha Fondue
What you need:
8 oz Semisweet Chocolate
1/2 cup Hot Espresso or Coffee
3 tbsp Granulated Sugar
2 tbsp Butter
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
What you do:
Chop chocolate into small pieces and set aside
Heat espresso and sugar in fondue pot on low heat
Slowly add chocolate and butter while stirring, then add vanilla
Optional: Add a splash of Irish Cream
